On Tuesday, April 26, 2016, Governor Nathan Deal signed SB 258, the bill that contained the final negotiated rural hospital tax credit provisions originally introduced by Rep. Geoff Duncan (R-Cumming). GHA lobbied extensively to make necessary improvements and ensure final passage of this important legislation, which will be able to help many rural hospitals and the patients and communities they serve.
"This legislation represents the best opportunity for financial help for struggling rural hospitals in years, " said Earl Rogers, GHA's President and CEO. "The state tax credit for contributors is even more attractive when you consider contributions are also federal tax deductible."
GHA greatly appreciates the outreach and advocacy efforts made by the hospital community in support of this important legislation. Your relationships with your elected officials proved to be the difference in passing a bill that will make a significant difference in the financial viability of our rural hospitals.
